Defined Physiques encourages the integration of Massage Therapy (Sports, Therapeutic, Relaxation & Neuromuscular Techniques-NMT) coupled with energy transference to stimulate, heal & energise the body and mind as a whole.
Through the uses specific techniques to stretch and lengthen connective tissues and muscles, bringing wellness, a sense of relaxation and increased mobility to our clients. One of the primary goals of Therapeutic Massage is to speed venous blood return from the extremities (arms and legs), therefore shortening recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissue of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. Therapeutic Massage improves circulation and stretches the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and functional.
Massage stimulates the skin and nervous system. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested as a regular treatment for stress management. It also has specific clinical uses in both a medical or remedial therapy program.
Therapeutic Massage is greatly beneficial to everyone (office/ desk bound workers, mothers/ fathers, athletes, weekend warrior’s, shift workers, depression and mental illness sufferers, children and pregnant women), to list a few. Massage can reduce symptoms by relaxing the tension in the muscles, stimulating the flow of blood through the muscles, breaking down and eliminating toxins, enhancing oxygenation of the brain and relaxing the nervous system and mind.
Defined Physiques offers multiple massage modalities;
Remedial Massage
Our most popular treatment is Remedial Massage which involves many techniques.
During the treatment the Therapist may use Trigger Point, firm deep pressure and stretching. It is normal to feel a bit tender and sore during the massage but not to the point that it is too firm and you can’t sustain the pressure.
We recommend that you drink plenty of water after your treatment as this helps flush out the toxins.
Deep Tissue Massage
Defined Physiques often combines deep tissue massage with Remedial Massage and is best for giving attention to certain painful, stiff “trouble spots” in your body. Our Therapists uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. Though less rhythmic than other types of massage, deep tissue massage can be quite therapeutic — relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries, such as back sprain.
Sports Massage
A good sports massage therapist should be able to identify tightness, trigger points and scar tissue.
Defined Physiques treat’s a lot of sporting people ranging from body building, hockey, rugby league, tennis and runners and triathletes.
Sports massage can be used in the treatment for specific injuries such as hamstring strains, calf strains, plantar fascities, shin splints, calf tightness as well as back strains.
Neuromuscular Therapy Massage
Neuromuscular therapy is also often included in our Remedial Massages and is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems. This medically-oriented form of massage addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries.
